What does redemption mean?
You may be like me, someone who grew up in the church and has heard “Christianese” all her life. Sometimes I think when we’ve heard something for a long time we simply accept it without truly understanding its meaning.
Titus 2:14 tells us:
“Who (Jesus) gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” NKJV
Jesus was born for our redemption. That redemption brought reconciliation with the Father. Neither of those things would have been possible without Jesus’s resurrection. Be- cause He walked out of that grave on the first Easter Sunday we can walk in newness of life every single day. His resurrection brought restoration and renewal.
Redemption.
Reconciliation.
Resurrection.
Restoration.
Renewal.
These are all Easter words we need to understand in order to live the abundant life Jesus promised.
